(Approx. 1–2 Miles • Beginner-Friendly Group Hike)
Looking for a fun way to explore the outdoors with your dog without feeling like you need to become a runner?
Cani-Hiking Fundamentals introduces people and dogs to the rewarding world of hiking as a team. While many people already walk or hike with their dogs, this class focuses on building communication, confidence, and adventure skills that make outdoor experiences safer, more enjoyable, and more engaging for both ends of the leash.
Whether your goal is exploring local trails, preparing for camping trips, improving your dog's focus, or simply finding a new way to spend time together outdoors, this class provides the foundation to get started.
No running experience is required.
During this hands-on class, you'll learn:
• How cani-hiking differs from traditional dog walking
• Basic equipment and harness options
• Trail etiquette and group safety expectations
• Foundational dog-powered commands and communication
• Trail awareness, navigation, and environmental considerations
• Hydration, conditioning, and outdoor safety basics
• How to determine if cani-hiking is a good fit for you and your dog
This class includes equipment demonstrations, practical instruction, command practice, and a guided group hike where participants can put their new skills into action.
Loaner equipment may be available for first-time participants.
By the end of class, you'll understand the fundamentals of cani-hiking and feel confident joining future hikes, pack walks, classes, and CaniVenture adventures.
No racing. No pressure. Just you, your dog, and the trail ahead.
